Being Patient with Yourself

What a great hug, today. If you haven't made it to the side bar (and since I don't archive them) I thought I would include it here to be read whenever you need encouragement.

Being Patient With Yourself

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are--no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought. (Matthew 5:5 MSG)

Being patient with other people can be difficult. but sometimes we find it even more difficult to be patient with ourselves. We have high expectations of ourselves, and we have lofty goals. We want to accomplish things now, not later. We want to be as "perfect" as possible, and we want our lives to unfold according to our own timetables...not necessarily God's. But things don't always turn out as planned. Our lives are not perfect, and neither are we.

So, Mom, here's a helpful hint for dealing (happily) with your world and yourself: be patient with all people, beginning with that particular woman who stares back at you each time you gaze into the mirror. That woman is created by God...and she should have your respect.
Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of someone else. (Judy Garland)
