March Break Confession

I haven't had a March "Break" in...oh...13 years.

Basically, March Break--a period of vacation where you can relax, get tanned, read a bunch of books, visit relatives, etc.--has only really applied to my son...or my husband. But, not for me. And not for most (any) moms.

It's become even more obvious since I started working from home. With my office job, I could take time off and enjoy a life at home that didn't involve work or responsibility aside from looking after my family.

Now that I'm working from home, there is no break. I've entered the world of--if you don't work you don't get paid, and even if you do work, it doesn't mean you'll get paid, so you have to keep working. Even if you assign yourself a break, there's the laundry, the dishes, the sweeping, mopping, cleaning, disinfecting, diaper changes, mid-night pacifier replacement runs...

No, for moms (and I suppose many dads, as well) there is no March Break.
