Being Patient With Yourself

Being patient with other people can be difficult. but sometimes we find it even more difficult to be patient with ourselves. We have high expectations of ourselves, and we have lofty goals. We want to accomplish things now, not later. We want to be as "perfect" as possible, and we want our lives to unfold according to our own timetables...not necessarily God's. But things don't always turn out as planned. Our lives are not perfect, and neither are we.

So, Mom, here's a helpful hint for dealing (happily) with your world and yourself: be patient with all people, beginning with that particular woman who stares back at you each time you gaze into the mirror. That woman is created by God...and she should have your respect.

Reflection on Today's Scripture

I like today's Scriptural thought (see sidebar) and wanted to share with you the joy I had yesterday when a friend e-mailed me after hearing that I'd just been hired for a new job and told me - "You charged too little. You're worth far more than that." And then proceeded to tell me what he thought I was worth (what I should charge), which was far more than what my normal rates were.

How blessed I was to have the affirmation from this friend, whom I hadn't even met except on-line, that he valued my skills and my work enough to tell me to charge more.

How blessed are we all to have a Saviour and a God who affirms that we are precious to him and worth the sacrifice he paid so that we could have a relationship from him.

What kind of affirmations can we give our fellow moms, today? Our children? Our husband?
