I haven't had a March "Break" in...oh...13 years.
Basically, March Break--a period of vacation where you can relax, get tanned, read a bunch of books, visit relatives, etc.--has only really applied to my son...or my husband. But, not for me. And not for most (any) moms.
It's become even more obvious since I started working from home. With my office job, I could take time off and enjoy a life at home that didn't involve work or responsibility aside from looking after my family.
Now that I'm working from home, there is no break. I've entered the world of--if you don't work you don't get paid, and even if you do work, it doesn't mean you'll get paid, so you have to keep working. Even if you assign yourself a break, there's the laundry, the dishes, the sweeping, mopping, cleaning, disinfecting, diaper changes, mid-night pacifier replacement runs...
No, for moms (and I suppose many dads, as well) there is no March Break.

Ack! I sooo feel this post. I began writing again in my spare time. Then I began trying to make some money at it. Suddenly the free time I thought I had is gone. Not only that but the everything in life seems to need more and more time. When are we upgrading to a 29 hour day?
God bless

Remembering the times when my sons were too short to reach the wash basin in the bathroom, a family friend made them a wooden step stool. Sometimes I would wish among all the madness of school functions and motherly duties, if I only had a minute to myself.
Now they are adults, doing their own thing. I am caring for my elderly mother, but it's just not the same. My time was consumed.
Now I find time to read, write, etc. Kinda lonely. I don't like this side of the coin. But wait!
My grandchild is coming in August so I guess it's plenty of time to get ready to busy again...

Spare time? What's that?
I don't really have much of that--a time where I can chose to do my own thing. While I'm on the treadmill I'm reading a book for review. The reading I do before I go to bed is for a review. I cram in a little more reading while I eat (although this one I'm doing for me). I never just sit anymore...well, no, I do do that sometimes. I try to at least once a week, but it's usually because I have absolutely no energy or wherewithal to do anything else.
Check out Marybeth Whalen's blog, today, and the link I provided to MarriagePartnership.com. There's a great article at MP on being domestically challenged, which I commented on earlier.
Then, Marybeth's devotional for today--Bring it to me. So, that's what I've done.
